NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
