NL Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he liked gambling on various card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these particular card games as he was playing his father. After graduating from secondary school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a little while and headed to New York City to compete in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were rough as he played many hours and lost a majority of the time. He earned some extra money by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He believed he possibly could boost his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He made an effort to acquire more sleep and concentrate even more on poker.
The real advancement in his game began when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would often challenge each other. He was able to access a number of the greatest minds in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would sharpen his strategic thinking techniques. He used these strategic ideas in the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.
Howard Lederer also helped his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of poker as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the proper decision. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. She is one of the best women players the poker world has ever seen. Howard headed to Vegas in 1993 and played money games for the next 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
