No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
