NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
