Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the normal 52-card standard deck and a single joker. The gambler is given seven cards faces showing and the croupier is given 7 cards face down.
One five card hand and a 2 card hand have to be made from the seven cards, the five card hand has to be better than the 2 card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand totals to be larger than the houses.
