No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
