No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
