Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
