No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
